When does pinching each penny become a problem
Okay this picture is of the vacuum that did not suck, or actually it did figuratively just not literally. Someone gave us this vacuum over a year ago. It seemed to work okay and then it started coming apart. Well I thought I will just anchor it and it will be fine. So what if I had to vacuum at a funny angle. It still worked why spend money on a new vacuum when I still have one that works. Well my husband finally had enough of my penny pinching when he saw me vacuuming all bent over funny, LOL He forced me literally to have a new vacuum. We did not purchase a horribly expensive one. Here is a picture of the new vacuum.
Now here is where my penny pinching ways were shown to be a problem. All this time I have been vacuuming and thinking okay it did not get that popcorn seed someone dropped, but no biggie I can just pick that up. Well I discovered that not only did it not get the popcorn seeds, it really hardly picked up anything else either. I had vacuumed Saturday afternoon and on Sunday night to my horrible shame and embarrassment when my husband tried out the new vacuum, he filled the dirt container nearly half full in just the living room.
I nearly died of shame. How awful that I was leaving all that dirt behind. It is amazing what was being missed underneath it all. So sometimes we need to carefully reevaluate before we continue to pinch pennies. Sometimes the dirt left behind just is not worth the few pennies pinched.

My Brothers the Marines
I am posting this for my brothers. My brother David the bottom Marine was shipped out early this morning @ 2 am. He had a quick stop in Maine and then on to overseas. My other brother Christopher the Marine on top will be shipped out shortly. My brothers, sigh..... I support our military and am very proud of my brothers and all of our service men and women. Does not stop me from worrying though. I can not help but see the baby brothers I carried around when I look at them. The song playing is of course the Marine Hymn. It is in honor of my brothers. I could not find a version with singing that I could stand. I need to get my youngest brother who is 7 to sing it on video and then post it. He went to my brothers graduation from boot camp and sang the whole song to them while on base. He received quite the round of applause I understand. Please everyone keep praying for the safety of our military. They deserve nothing less then our complete respect, and our prayers. And anyone who says otherwise like that nutty group here in Kansas who pickets the funerals, is just plain wrong.
God bless our military and God bless America.
Heaven knows we need it.

The Feres Doctrine and why this should be changed
Here is a quick explination of the Feres Doctrine
The United States is not liable under the Federal Tort Claims Act for injuries to members of the armed forces sustained while on active duty and not on furlough and resulting from the negligence of others in the armed forces.
You will need to stop the player at the bottom of the page in order to hear all of this.
This video is hard to watch but is something we should all be aware of. Both of these young men like many others should have received better treatment. The people who made these mistakes should be held accountable. The men and women who give their lives for our country should receive the BEST treatment that can be found and when these kinds fo things happen SOMEONE should be held accountable. This is something that worries me. I have 2 brothers in the Marines.
These young men where not killed while fighting, these young men were killed through human error and or neglect. The second young man mentioned in this, Air Force Staff Sgt. Dean Witt was my husbands cousin. He had his appendix out, after being misdiagnoised 3 times prior at other hospitals, at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base, in California.
We have been told by his wife is that a certified registered nurse anesthesiologist had removed Dean’s endotracheal tube and allegedly left him with a student registered nurse anesthesiologist. She noticed he was turning blue while moving him and took him to the nearest recovery room, a room used for children.
She tried to revive him with pediatric equipment, but it was too small to clear his airway. The certified nurse heard the code blue and rushed to help with other staff members. She tried to reintubate him, but incorrectly placed the tube into his esophagus. A doctor finally placed the tube in his trachea, but no other forms of airway management had been performed.
There is obviously some problems here. And because of something put into effect over 50 years ago, the families of these young men are unable to sue for medical malpractice. Something which any other citizen of the USA could do if there was just cause. Heck alot of people sue when there IS NOT just cause. And there definatley IS just cause here.

Life
Well things have been going okay. I have been doing alot of baking and just trying to keep up. We have sold four of the puppies since I last blogged. It is so sad to see them go that is the hard part of having dogs and puppies. We only have one little girl left Buttercup that is who is pictured up there, ; ) Her last sibling left tonight. She has become much more lively now that the more dominate siblings have been sold. She was the smallest of the bunch and so just kinda tried to stay out of the way of all the bigger puppies. She is too cute.
We still have some things to move yes we have been here a month, but we have yet to empty the storage shed, SIGH!!!!!! I am not looking foward to that. I finally got over to visit my friend the KS Milkmaid last week. It was so nice to see her. I was delivering to puppies to their new owners and happened to be in her area, so I got to see her and we had a lovely visit. It was so nice to go out and visit on her peacful place. It is so much quieter out there.
I also got to pick up some soap. I had not been out there in awhile and was suffering soap withdrawls, LOL. I stocked up!! It was nice to just go and be an adult and visit with another adult lady for ahwile. I adore my kiddos, but some times it is just nice to be able to sit down and chat with someone without the interuptions.
It is raining here in Kansas again and I hear that the weather is suppossed to be yucky by tomorrow morning..... I am not happy. I must admit that on Groundhogs day, when they pulled the groundhog out of there and he saw his stupid shadow, I had very unkind thoughts towards all groundhogs. I have had about as much winter as I can stand. Where is spring???
I hope everyone stays warm and safe tonight. Will post some more here tomorrow maybe.
Hugs

The things that make you feel dumb, LOL
So your going through life, and think hey I am a reasonably smart gal. I know alot about alot of things. I can do alot of things, I read books like they are going out of style. I am usually an ace at any kind of trivia. I homeschool my kids from preschool through 10th grade. I feel confident and secure about what I know and what I can do.
Then I make a mistake, I decide I want to know about genetics and breeding for different colored coats in dogs. Okay today that has left me feeling like the dumbest person on the planet. I even did a search that said, breeding, genetics, and color in dogs for dummies. I DID NOT FIND ANYTHING HELPFUL!!! I for some reason am just flabergasted tonight by the information that I did find. Little graphs with a couple of letters in it that obviousloy stood for something, nothing that I could understand tonight, but they MUST have meant something, RIGHT.
WHAT DID THEY MEAN, LOL,
Anyone want to offer some help, anyone else know what they meant. I would be so totally thrilled if someone has any idea, and they would care to share it with me.
At any rate I am hoping that tomorrow when it is earlier in the day I might try reading through that again, and hopefully I can glean some helpful information from them.
IF NOT, then I may call around find a Miniature Schnauzer Breeder that has been breeding for a long time, beg them to take pity on me and help me understand this stuff. I DESPISE NOT KNOWING WHAT I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT A SUBJECT AND BEING UNABLE TO REMEDY THAT ASAP....
For some reason it just makes me feel dumb and I do not like it one little bitty bit.

Running Your Race
Hebrews 12:1-2
1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Our Pastor was sick yesterday so our Youth Pastor spoke instead. I am believing God wanted it that way for a reason. I have been struggling with the race set in front of me lately. Heading off to church yesterday, I was not in the best of moods. Just weary of the stuff going on. And low and behold the message is about NOT GIVING UP. SIGH........ okay God I am listening. I recently had truly thought about giving up on alot of things. Sometimes this all just seems too hard. The sermon was very short.
1. No Pain No Gain.
I had discovered recently that times of growth can be painful I was talking to a Pastor of a different church and was telling him about how I was struggling with some stuff and the beliefs of different church denominations. I have always been Pentacostal, and have gone to one Foursquare Church or another for 28 years. I mean since I was a little kid. I have never questioned any of it. Until recently. Now I am really wanting to UNDERSTAND the beliefs etc.... This growing is painful, but neccessary. Also the pain I am struggling with in my personal life. Lots of things going on in my family. I think I am having to be streatched a bit and it is not fun, but I am encouraged today that there will be a good end result.
2. The Enemy Wants You To Give Up
Well we all know this is true. Of course he wants us to fail. The constant barage of attacks on my family and my marriage. This constant mess of struggling and worrying. I am believing that we are on the right course, and that the enemy just does not want us to make it. We got married so young and of course everyone says you'll never make, it your too young, etc. Well we have been married for 16 years now, and no life is no picnic, and we have struggled though the whole thing. But God has blessed our marriage with 6 wonderful healthy children who love the Lord, and are the joy of our hearts and many other peoples as well. So we will not give up, the enemy will not win.
Ephesians 6:12
12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
3. Never Give Up Hope
Okay hope I wake up with hope every day. Some days are way harder then others. The last few weeks have been kinda of a hope sucking vaccum. But you know I am up I am laughing and I am really believing that God will carry us through. I HAVE MY HOPE AND MY JOY!!!!
4. We Have Victory
If you read to the end of the BOOK, you will know that WE WIN with God's strength and mercy, the enemy is defeated. We must just keep pressing on and not give up. Run this race we have been given. Run hard run as fast as you can, help those up who fall, this race may be hard, it may be long, but the rewards are OH SO AWESOME, FREEDOM, ETERNAL LIFE, DWELLING WITH THE LORD!!
Be Blessed

What kind of flower are you??
You Are A Lily |
You are a nurturer and all around natural therapist. People see you as their rock. And they are able to depend on you. You are a soothing influence. You can make people feel better with a few words. Your caring has more of an impact than even you realize. |
I got this from Rose of Sharons blog. Thought I would try it out.
